Product analytics and digital optimization

Amplitude

Amplitude combines event-based product analytics with a broader platform for understanding and improving digital experiences. Its analytics charts help teams examine what users do, how they move through defined funnels, and whether they return after key actions.

Analytics and AI-assisted exploration

Event segmentation supports analysis of event totals, unique users, properties, and user segments. Funnel analysis identifies drop-off through defined event sequences, while retention analysis measures return behavior. Amplitude also documents AI features such as a Global Agent that can answer product questions and build or explore analyses using workspace data. Teams should validate its output against event definitions, charts, and the source data.

Amplitude may suit product, growth, and analytics teams that need structured analysis of adoption and retention, or want experimentation and behavior tools within a broader vendor platform. Its overlap with Mixpanel is substantial; compare required reports, implementation effort, data governance, and plan-specific capabilities using a representative workflow.

Plan limits and setup

The current pricing page advertises 2 million events per month on Free and describes limited volumes or capabilities across the free platform. Documentation lists basic event segmentation, user funnels, and retention on all plans; formulas are available on Plus and above, while A/B Test Funnel View and Conversion Drivers require Growth or Enterprise. Behavioral cohorts, heatmaps, and other capabilities can also depend on plan or product packaging. Treat published limits as a snapshot: check the current pricing page and your organization's plan before relying on an allowance or feature.

Analytics charts require event instrumentation. Define event names and properties, user identity, and consent handling before comparing cohorts or interpreting funnel and retention results. GA4 may be a better starting point for broad acquisition and website/app reporting; compare Google Analytics 4 and Mixpanel for adjacent needs.
