Event-based product analytics

Mixpanel

Mixpanel is a product analytics platform built around events, users, and properties. Teams can analyze the steps users take in a product, how those paths differ across segments, and whether users return after important actions.

Best suited to product questions

Mixpanel can suit SaaS, app, and digital-product teams that want event-based funnels, retention analysis, and reports on user journeys. Event and user properties support filtering and segmentation, helping teams compare behavior across cohorts rather than only reviewing aggregate page traffic.

Its Flows report visualizes common paths to or from an event, while funnels measure conversion across a sequence of events. Retention reports evaluate return behavior. These reports answer different questions and depend on a stable event taxonomy, meaningful identifiers, and enough well-collected data.

Plan and implementation considerations

The current public pricing page lists the Free plan with up to 1 million events per month, up to 10,000 session replays per month, unlimited seats, and funnels and retention analysis. The page currently lists Growth with up to 20 million events per month; higher-volume and Enterprise arrangements have separate terms. Replay allowances, experiments, flags, retention, and other entitlements may also vary. Treat those figures as a snapshot and verify the live comparison and calculator before choosing a plan.

A product team must decide which events and properties to send, how to identify users across devices or sessions, and how to govern sensitive data and consent.
